Take A Sip Of: Cranberry Ornament

As if you have not had enough cranberry yet? Even so, perhaps you have not quite had cranberry like this. A delicious elixir with just a hint of warm nutmeg…this might entice you to extend your Thanksgiving holiday.

Cranberry Ornament (martini)

Fill martini glasses with ice and water to chill.

Ingredients:

10 oz (1 ¼ c) cranberry juice ( I use light)

2 ½ c vodka

7.5 oz lemon juice

5 oz honey mixed with 1 ¼ c. hot water

5 oz simple syrup*

Cranberries

Nutmeg

Mix the liquid in a pitcher. Pour into chilled martini glasses. Add cranberries and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

Mmmmmmm. Try not to have seven more.

'VODKA'... I've never had it. I've never even drunk out of a 'martini glass'.

Sounds delish! When I have parties, I love serving a signature drink for the night. This may be my one for the holidays!

As soon as I get rid of the headache I've been stuck with lately, I plan to try one of those. Very Christmasy.

Just realized I have no martini glasses! Of course, we usually just drink wine, and very little of that, so I suppose it's not so odd. But now I'm considering buying a few martini glasses that I will put, oh, geez, this means a total rearrangement of some piece of furniture or cupboard. Think I'll have a glass of wine and mull it over. :)

I tried to make one, but it turned out I didn't have any cranberries, or cranberry juice or simple syrup. So what the hell, I made a martini straight up with a twist. Here's to you JennyMac. Hope your holiday was as good as mine.

So....this is sorta healthy, right?

This sounds so perfect : ) Brilliant recipe!

I like Cape Cods...with a lime. Really anything cranberry.

However, the nutmeg is not measured here, which leads me to believe that the cocktail could go horribly, horribly wrong. Too much nutmeg can ruin even the most kick-ass pumpkin pie. Trust me!

;-)
But it does sound good, as long as the bartender gets the nutmeg ratio right.

Well, I can't enjoy one today, 'cause I don't wanna go back to school tomorrow with a headache! But I'll keep it in mind...Christmas Break is only 3 weeks away!

Sounds heavenly. I don't think I can ever get enough Cranberry. I love the new Oceanspray commercial where they are showing everyone how cranberries are good for decorations, eating and drinking.

Delightful! I am getting a tad tired of appletini's at this point, anyway. It's time for a good change.

Though I consider vodka itself is perfection, this is intriguing because of the honey and nutmeg. I wonder whether I could modify the recipe to use the leftover cranberry sauce that's taking up too much space in my fridge...
