Oh my...because cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies just are not sufficient? Exactly! Those two baked delights are certainly good and a staple in my baking repertoire. BUT, I recently saw a recipe for homemade Twinkies. Since a regular Twinkie has a 25 year shelf life and 25 varieties of chemicals as ingredients, I can't eat them. But I freely admit, back in the day, I loved them. Especially frozen. So, I made one of my favorite yellow cake batter recipes, baked little canoes using a NorPro canoe pan (bought on Amazon) and let them cool completely. Then I injected them with real whipped cream using a pastry injector. They were
incredible. I clearly took them to work so I didn't have a homemade twinkie love fest. But man OH man, that does not mean I did not want to have a homemade twinkie love fest. A little extra manual labor required but worth every bite. They look exactly like the real thing but taste approximately 200 times better. Hope your Sunday is this delicious.

You are so creative! What an amazing idea.
Dude, the sole of my shoe tastes 200 times better than a Twinkie. But I have to admit, your home made version sounds DEEEEELICIOUS!
Good Gawd, Woman! I am vacillating between awe and admiration to fear and loathing.
Really? Why are you torturing me like this?! I AM DIETING! ;-)LOL
You continue to amaze me with yur culinary abilities!
I admit it to only you. I love Twinkies. I may just try your idea.
I had a Twinkie once. I was icky. Felt like wallpaper paste in my mouth. lol! But your recipe sounds yummy! I'm gonna have to try it.
A shelf life of 25 years? Really??? Ewww! I like the frozen but I haven't had one in years. Maybe I should try the homemade version instead. Those look good!
that sounds great. though i don't think my hips need to go on a homemade twinkie lovefest. :)
Noooooooooooo! no no no! You're KILLING my waistline.
Okay...I have to share:
Last summer I took my tot to visit the fam in Ohio. My aunt is the queen of junk food...a trait I loved her for as a child of course and she was FLOORED that he had never had a twinkie. I figured "meh...can't hurt him once!" and let him have one. He HATED it! LOL! I tried one for the first time in years as well and it was awful. Surely these homemade ones are heavenly...but I wonder if I could use CHOCOLATE cake batter...hmmmmmm
Best,
Tina
God bless you for not actually posting the recipe and the vital information regarding preparation and such...My big Cuban butt thanks you, profusely!
Twinkies can be baked? I always thought they were a spongy substance that grew in the wild and then injected with unknown white cream.
Yumm! They certainly looks nice and delicious!
omg...these look SO cute.
this sounds so much better than those toxic twinkies! YUM!!
