We can beat around the bushes, we can get down to the bone...

For those of you who have been with me awhile, you are well aware our 3 year old, MiniMac, is a bit of a budding rockstar. A path we are highly encouraging (except for that full drum kit my older brother bought him from Seattle Percussion that resides at Grammy's  house...we are not encouraging a full drum kit in our house. Yet.)  One of MiniMac's favorite bands is The Eagles. From the playlist to the guy who plays the trumpet (Billy Armstrong) our son loves the music, the songs, and even crazy Joe Walsh who wears a yellow hard hat on stage.

And what may come to be a quintessential moment in our son's life, JohnnyMac bought VIP tickets for us to take Mini to see The Eagles tomorrow night. Yes, we have earphones and I even have a police issue noise reduction sharpshooter headset for him. (Thank you Grandpa.) To say our son is beside himself to go to this concert, well, it is an understatement. I remember the very first concert my parents took me to see: John Cougar Mellencamp. I was 13 and loved every minute of it. Had I been cooler, or able to play the frets like our son has been known to do, perhaps I could have gone a decade earlier. So cheers to great experiences that shape us. When our son grows up we will know if tomorrow night was one of his. And if we needed proof he is a true Eagles fan, here it is. Have a gorgeous weekend. I know we will.

  3. Oh, you are going to have such a great time! The Eagles were at ACL this year, but alas, we could not attend. One of my favorite bands. MiniMac has good taste (natch). The video is adorable, I love the way he channeled the Beatles/Elvis at the end with his little yeah, yeah, yeah and hip wiggle :) Not to give away my ancient status or anything, but my first concert was the Jackson Five LOL Kat

  9. Oh, that is so awesome! I love the Eagles! He's going to have SO much fun!

Our boys are into the Beatles. It's all I'm "allowed" to listen to in the car with them (which really cuts into my Glee cast songs if I'm being honest). My father-in-law is a burned out hippie, so I called our photographer and even had her do Beatles themed pictures of them last month.

I'm totally jealous! I'd go to an Eagles concert in a heart beat!

    I hope he enjoys it.

  11. He'll be supplying the heartache in a few years....The Eagles are from my generation...the baby boomers...It is wonderful that their music still makes them sing...mmmm..mm.

  12. Oh he melts my heart! How do you get anything done with him around? The smooches must be endless.

And good-mom job for keeping him cool with the Eagles and not this new crap they put on the air and call music.

  35. JennyMac, on a side-note, I was laughing my butt off as I read this story and thought, as an attorney, you'd get a kick out of it. Talk about a huge settlement.

If the link doesn't post properly, it's a story from The Post Chronicle and the title says it all. LOL.

  40. Oh man....I see things like that and think...what am i doing wrong? My kids don't even know how to hold a guitar, and they don't know any songs from the radio, except a little hanah, and Justin Bieber. Your little mini man is adorable, and there is nothing better than a 3 year old "playing" guitar and singing with the musical riffs included! LOVE IT!!!!
I'm just dying to hear how the concert turned out for him. Was he able to stay awake that late, AND be nice still?

    ReplyDelete
  41. That is great! And soooo much better than Yo Gabba Gabba tunes.

  42. MiniMac has groupies already!

Where can I get tickets to his first concert? I'm an old fart but I'll stay awake for that stage show!

    :)

  43. The Eagles are my all time, absolute favorite group, EVER!
We saw them in Houston about 4 years ago and it was wonderful! 2 1/2 hours of nothing but solid gold hits.
I bet MiniMac has a ball and if your not careful JohnnyMac and you could have a great time as well! ;-)
(John and I went to see John Cougar Mellencamp about 3 years ago as well!)
