Wiggle it, just a little bit

Is it too early for cocktails? Maybe but today I am the featured blogger at SITS.

SITS (The Secret is in the Sauce) is a female blogging community built to support us and help us support one another as bloggers. If you are new to blogging, or new to SITS, go visit and see what a great resource Heather and Tiffany have built.  And welcome to the cocktail party, SITStas.  I am so glad you are here.

As my bio indicates, this blog focuses on sharing observations on life, culture, parenting, relationships, and news. As well as all kinds of antics I have seen or experienced. For example? Well, let's get down to the wiggle...

On a ski trip to Vail with some girlfriends, I was reminded that a week in the delicious snow is always a good idea. And these girls knew how to maximize the hours and fill them with as much fun as possible. After multiple days of skiing and beverage consumption, I needed a long nap or at least, some down time. My friend LK comes up with the genius plan to skip the lifts one day and instead,  spend the day at Sonnenalp in the spa. Count me in. And how.

I love massages and go as frequently as I can. There are numerous things about deep accupressure to be praised. Massage is good for the body and for the soul. So, after spending an hour or so in the sauna and steam room, breathing in the heady fragrance of eucalyptus and rinsing out countless sips of Fat Tire Golden Lager, we robe up and wait for our therapists.

I am soon greeted by an incredibly handsome man. My primary interest in the massage therapist is massage and massage technique. However, he was so handsome, my friend LK wanted to trade. On the spot. While I do not go to the spa with lascivious thoughts or the underlying theme of ‘happy endings’ perhaps I can't say the same for LK. He laughed and told her she would just have to make another appointment.

I am face down on the table, shrouded in sheets. He begins to work his magic. I am not a chatty chatster during my massage appointments. It is likely the only time I am truly quiet outside of sleep so I make it count. I am being prodded and kneaded. I am on the verge of blissful relaxation. Until this happens:

While I am face down, he does the origami sheet trick so that my leg is exposed but none of my lady bits. He clasps my foot and in the motion of lifting my entire leg off the table, he begins to wiggle it. More than a little bit. In fact, its wiggling so much I began to think he might be trying to jump rope with that thing.

Does it hurt? Not a bit. But spinach in your teeth doesn't hurt either except it's not that pretty to look at, is it? My issue is purely aesthetic. Unless your rib-to-knee area is made of lonsdaleite which is the hardest substance on earth. Or made of diamonds, which are much prettier, maybe the lower torso wiggle won’t be an activity you sign up for readily. Was I being vain? OF COURSE. Of the two people in the inky dark room, only one of us even cared.

Vain or not, do I want my arse and thigh shaken as if they were a pair of dice held by an enthusiastic man with a pile of money riding on a Craps table knowing if he wins Chesty LaGoGo might become his new wife? No.

And while the wiggle le jiggle was going on, I only wanted it to end. As in let's not wiggle it, even a little bit. Nothing about your leg being whipped around like an al dente spaghetti noodle has any appealing allure. Oh, and it doesn't help you relax.

After that, we worked into some hot stones. Much better.  Afterward, LK asked me how it was. I told her she should definitely make an appointment with him. And since I was already not relaxed, I couldn’t wait to get back to the slopes AND another pint of Fat Tire.

  5. Happy SITS Day! I've never been massaged by a man, I don't know if I could relax, especially if he was attractive. The jiggling would definitely send me over the edge! Too Funny!

  6. Yeah! Not a good feeling, eh! Whenever I do boxing we do these body rips and if you're the lucky sod holding the pads, you feel every single ounce of fat bouncing around. Ewwww!

    Happy SITS day!

  7. I think I would have grabbed my OWN leg and told mr happy handsome fingers to bust off!

Darn him for ruining a whole different story!

  8. I always wondering what the "other person in the room" is thinking when they do such things...

    Happy SITS day!

  10. v. funny! don't you hate when a massage goes from relaxing to self-conscious in an instant?...congrats on your sits day. I am going to spend a bit more time on your site..i could use a few more giggles.

  18. Congrats on being featured! The secret is now out and you will become a blogging superstar. Don't forget the little people who loved you before you were famous. :)
BTW, I've had a masseuse wiggle my legs after the origami sheet thing too. Why? Why would they want to wiggle the jiggly bits? I agree that it is NOT condusive to relaxation.

  19. Oh my goodness, that was hysterical! :) I can't wait to read more of your blog!

    Happy SITS Day!

  23. One time my friend & I booked an in-room massage while we were on vacay in Cancun. So this guy starts the massage & while he is working on my lower back her completly exposes my butt & then begins to massage it... & even down as low as to feel like he is in my crack. Ummmm NOT COOL!!! I was laying there wishing it would end & trying not to clinch my butt. Afterward I asked my friend about it & she blew it off like it wasn't a big deal. Am I crazy or was that just wrong???

  24. LOL - happy SITS! Those cupcakes look fabulous :)

  25. Happy, happy SITS day! That sounds like one interesting massage...I would have hated the wiggle too!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Congrats on being the SITs FB of the day!

    Darn funny as usual!!!!!!!

Ok, you might not have appreciated a gorgeous man shaking, wiggling your foot, but he can do that and more to me anyday! But then you have a gorgeous man who can do just that at home...

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOL!! Too funny!! Congrats on being featured today!! Yay!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Congrats on your SITS day Jenny!
Ok so...I couldn't have handled the whole jiggling my bits around thing during a massage either. Like No. Can. Do. on the other hand, I might just be so damn grateful to have had a massage in the first place it's likely I could have overlooked it. Like knowing I'd never get to come back ever to see the same guy. Possibly. Other than that he can kiss my cellulite. ewwwwwww!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. YAYAYAYAAA!! happy SITS day lady!!! have a marvelous day!! i'm gonna go ask the hubs to give me a little massage and wiggle now...he he he...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Okay. I have had plenty of massages and have to say that (thankfully) I have never experienced that!

Happy SITS Day! Hope it's great!!

  31. Heihei,
I'm stopping by from SITS. This is a lovely blog you have! Really like it... I think I'm gonna stop by more often.

    Have a nice Monday...

    Greetings from Germany

    ReplyDelete
  32. I never had a massage and after reading this, don't think I ever will! Congrats on your SITS day!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I wonder if that's his specialty, instead of the 'happy ending'?

This, btw, is the 2nd time I've heard of that phrase in the last 24 hours. It was on a show called Manswers. You learn something new every day. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  34. Congrats on your SITS day! Your blog looks like my kind of blog. FABULOUS!

I am now your newest follower!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nothing witty to say, I just laughed, I still have a smile on my face right now. Thanks for sharing! Happy blogging. Regards. xxx

    ReplyDelete
  36. I know exactly what you mean! It's supposed to loosen up those leg/glute muscles, but your "ad dente spaghetti noodle" analogy is spot on with how it makes you feel as a recepient. I'm a celiac. I HATE pasta.

    Hilarious post. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Happy SITS day. So know the feeling about needing to look good weather it hurts or not. Toasting you on your special day.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm so glad you were featured today but SITS. I started following you a couple weeks ago but didn't subscribe for some reason (probably lost power or internet service right at that moment) and so now I have!

    Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  39. LOL. I'm with you. Hot guy, not thanks. I'll have a hot mess massaging me, thank you very much. Happy SITS day!

    ReplyDelete
  40. The wiggle-jiggle - what a riot! I know what you mean, and because of that I only ask for a masseuse (which I just found out on www.merriam-webster.com is a female - the male form is masseur). Why can't we just not worry about things moving around on our bodies? Sometimes I see myself in a mirror and don't even recognize my body - has that happened to anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  41. congrats on being featured...i dated a massage therapist..years ago before i met T...

    ReplyDelete
  42. That reminds me of the time I got a very short, blind, male massage therapist in a resort... blindness being the excuse for lack of draping of course. How can one NOT be skeptical about the experience? CHEERS SITStah!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh my gosh. I am laughing so hard! Happy SITS day, obviously you very much deserve it! Thank you for sharing :-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Happy SITS day!

I really should have started at the beginning of the post. Because I was confused when I read, "he does the origami sheet trick so that my leg is exposed but none of my lady bits" I thought I stumbled on a x-rated sight. lol.

I'll go back and start over.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Greetings & Salutations, good friend! Enjoy your SITS Day in the Sun. And thanks for putting a little giggle in my wiggle!

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is great. I get to experience skiing and massages through your blog, all without having to a) get cold, or b) get abused whilst wearing nothing but a towel.

Your selfless sacrifice is much appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Reminds me of my first and last massage, back in the 80's when I had no tan lines and the masseur commented thusly....and I wasn't truly able to relax after that......

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hilarious!!! And you're so right, no one needs to see that wiggle, really. Oh, gosh, I would've been so self-conscious! Happy SITS day to you!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. The leg/rump wiggle aside...

"I am not a chatty chatster during my massage appointments. It is likely the only time I am truly quiet outside of sleep so I make it count."

Does JohnnyMac take you to the masseuse A LOT?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Happy, happy SITS day! It will be amazing.

  51. Jenny Mac - You know I love ya!!! Happy SITS Day! How exciting?! Enjoy every minute of it mama!!!

    xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  52. Congrats on your SITS' day and I'm with you; love a massage unless I'm put into an awkward position where I suddenly feel uncomfortable.

I used to get massages on a regular basis and always had the massage therapist that LOVED to chat with me. Hello??? Please don't talk to me. I'm THRILLED that you like me and feel really at ease with me. I do lend an ear, but sometimes, just sometimes, I want the experience to be all about me!

I end up fake snoring with massages or facials just so I can get peace and quiet.

Sure, it may be wrong, but I'm much happier when the hour is up.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Congrats on your feature! I love your blog, thank you for all your posts.

  59. Happy SITS Day JennyMac! I just love reading your blog everyday! Thanks for the great stories!

    ReplyDelete
  60. OMG - I am right there with you, that would not have been relaxing! I can actually see someone doing that with my leg and it gives me a shiver of "ewwww!"!

And Fat Tire? You have good taste my friend! :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yeah it's your day, girl!!!! LOVE your story--too funny! That would have been me the whole time too!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Congrats on being featured on SITS! I'm with you on that wiggle thing. Hot stones are my favorite massage treat. Maybe another time and another massage therapist.

    ReplyDelete
  63. It's so funny, I get so excited about a massage, and then usually mid-way into it I just can't wait for it to be over!!

    Stopping by from SITS!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I was super excited to see you featured as the SITS blogger of the day - I just found your blog this weekend and loved your witty and fun writing!

    Happy SITS day!

  65. Oh, sounds like heaven, even with the wiggly bits. One of my favourite places in the world is the municipal pool near our ski apartment in Switzerland. Municipal pool? Not very glamorous! Oh but this is an outdoor thermal spa pool, and it's fabulous to chill out in the hot water with the snow lying all around and the Alps rising up and up and up! Have a wonderful SITS day. Louise in Italy.

    ReplyDelete
  66. So funny! I hope you enjoyed the rest of the skiing!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I've never had a massage and that story makes me even more hesitant to try. Is it bad massage manners to tell the guy his move isn't doing it for you?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I...LOVE massages! I have also been subjected to "the wiggle" and also find it quite disturbing! I'll take the hot stones ANYDAY, though!

Love your post, makes me want to hit the slopes (and the bar!!)

    Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ahh, I was thinking when I started to read how your leg was being wiggled & jiggled; that I would've been like 'hello no'.
There are just some things, even though I'm fairly relaxed, that make me self-conscience. On purpose jello leg is one of them. Glad it's not just me.

Hope you have a fab SITS day, full of visitors!

    ReplyDelete
  70. A massage would be heaven...not the jiggling leg thing though!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hi! Just dropped by from SITS and I am sooo glad I did! You are seriously funny! I am going to have a thorough look around!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ha! Maybe you should have had a few more Fat Tires BEFORE the massage. Happy SITS Day!

    ReplyDelete
  73. When I get massages, i tell them to stay above the waist. Focus on the back and neck - because I can NOT relax when they're near my legs. Not at all.
Also? time to book a massage!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Oh hell no! There will be no leg wiggling here!

And congrats on your SITS day! I am so happy for you.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I love it when bloggers I already read get their SITS day! Woo hoo! Now you have me wanting a massage... it's been years :(

  77. Congratulations on your SITS day!

    ReplyDelete
  78. What the heck is wiggle your legs supposed to do?? I would already be self conscious about stretch marks and cellulite, add in thigh jiggling? aI think I now have a massage phobia!

Enjoy your SITS daY ! hope it's more fun then you massage!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yeah, all that jiggling would bug me as well! Happy SITS day.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Enjoy your SITS day more than that strange sounding massage!

Now my eyes have been drawn to the recipe in the post below... so I must check it out.

  93. Congrats on being featured! Great story, Im not a fan of that move either. :O)

    ReplyDelete
  94. That all that wiggling and jiggling would definitely not make me relaxed, either. ;)

    Happy SITS Day! :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. LOL! I hate to feel jiggly at all, much less when I'm supposed to relax.

It probably would have taken a whole bottle just to relax after that! :O

    ReplyDelete
  96. OMGosh! I'm laughing & crying - great experience, huh!
    Anyway, Congrats on Sits Day!

    ReplyDelete
  97. hahahahaha Yeah, I wiggle enough on my own and don't need anyone's help!

Congrats on being the FB! Enjoy your day in the spotlight!

    ReplyDelete
  98. This is hilarious, although I'm sure it didn't feel that way during the wiggling session... Happy SITS day!

  110. Happy SITS...wow that would make me tense up just so I could tighten the jiggly.....Ive only had a massage from the waist up...Have a great day..!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Came over from SITS to say congrats on you SITS day.

That does sound like a strange day at the spa.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I so needed to read this on this dreary Monday morning!

    Enjoy your SITS day!

    ReplyDelete
  113. I've never been for a massage because I'm worried that something like that will happen! Too funny.

    ReplyDelete
  114. It's your special day!!! How fun!!!!! Congratulations!!!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Well, I must say that I have never been "wiggled" by a massage therapist before! Not a technique that is likely to relax you either. Maybe he was getting by on his looks alone??

I think I need a massage now, after a truly icky weekend. And a beverage or three.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Congrats on SITS day for you!

I have only had a couple of massages (3 yrs ago when I was pregnant with the twins...prescribed by the doctor) and none of them involved the Jello Wiggle being done with my leg!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Happy SITS day...now that song is in my head.

  123. Happy SITS Day! I can't wait to read your posts! Have a good one!

    ReplyDelete
  124. @Mala "Are you sure mr. Hottie McHotHot wasn't just trying to wiggle that towel right off you???"

OMG. What if he was distracting her from what HE was wiggling?!

    ReplyDelete
  125. I have never had a massage - seriously - and it's out of the fear of something like that happening. That would freak me out to the max, man.

Happy SITS day! I'm so excited for you, JennyMac! :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. Happy SITS day!! The wiggling would've totally ruined the massage experience for me--there's just no way to realax after feeling that self conscious. I'm dying to know if your friend made and appointment, and if she did, did she get wiggled too?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  127. That is too funny. If someone did that to me, the earth would shake! I can't seem to get to the SITS site today. I keep getting a message saying the link is broken. Congrats on your day in the spotlight; but then, you're a star every day!

    ReplyDelete
  128. I think it takes an inutuitive and special person - male or female - to give a good massage.

He sounds like he should become a fitness instructor.

    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  129. Your posts are always so amusing. Sounds like a fun time.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I hate it when my thoughts take over during a massage and I can't relax. Like when I start trying to remember if I shaved the back of my thighs, and if not how flippin' long could the hair have gotten? What if it's so long they pull it and I jump? You know ~ sane, happy thoughts like that. Happy SITS day - enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Wow, I would have hated that in a massage, too! Great post-- as always, and congrats on the SITS day honor! (I'm waiting for my turn!)

    L.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Well, happy SITS day to you, JennyMac!! Good story, as usual... and excellent choice of brew. Fat Tire is one of my faves and perfect while in the snow!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Have I ever mentioned that I'm a licensed massage therapist?? And 1. I HATE chatty therapists so unless the client talks to ME, I stay silent. 2. I've had that shaky, shaky thing done to me. HATED it. I would NEVER do that to a person. NEVER!

Speaking of which, I could use a good massage....

    ReplyDelete
  134. Great story! But even a bad massage is good, no? Congrats on your SITS day!

    ReplyDelete

  139. Awesome post! Can you believe I've NEVER gotten a massage? After your experience, I'm not sure I'll rush right out to rectify that situation! I can get shaken to death at home. :o)

  140. Shut the front door! It's your SITS day!?!? I haven't even made it over there yet, but was just coming here to see what else was going on!
Hooray for JennyMac! You knew I loved your blog even before all this happened. :)

PS. Those cupcakes sound and look amazing.

    Funny stories!

  142. I'm pretty much OUT on anything during a massage that involves wiggling. :)

  145. OMG, I would not have liked that at all!

Sorry to hear the massage was ruined by that.

  147. Congrats on your SITS day!

I love massages too. My embarrassing moment: when the massage therapist massaged each ASS cheek. True story.

  148. Congrats on your SITS Day! Hope it's fabulous.

  150. Just found your blog via SITS and am laughing out loud. I know the exact feeling!! My massage guy has this weird little trick he does where he does a switch-change to cover up your nipples while massaging around the clavicles. I freak out every time thinking he's fully exposing the nips, which, let's be honest, isn't going to be pretty for anyone considering I'm laying on my back and don't have the luxury of silicone perkiness. It sucks when you can't relax and fully enjoy the massage, but your little getaway sounds amazing!

  151. I would have been horrified!!!

    Enjoy your big day!

  152. I don't see a masseus, but a chiropractor... He's pretty good, but this sounds a lot better...
Congrats on your SITS day!!!! Mine is supposed to be coming up one of these years...

  153. Hilarious! I love massages too...can't afford them anymore but do have a funny story...a male masseuse walked in on me naked at Massage Envy. This was before he was to give me my 1 hour massage...oh the the awkwardness!

  155. I'm in Vail in 2 weeks, though I can't stay off the slopes long enough to get a massage.

I wonder about his technique. Nothing relaxing about feeling vulnerable during massage.

    I'll be checking out SITS.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I've been there. Sometimes I feel too self conscious to relax when getting a massage!

    Happy Sits day!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Yay! It's your SITs day, Congrats!
    Have a wonderful week :)

  158. Happy SITS day!

Yeah somehow having your leg wiggled around in the air does not make for a relaxing massage. very weird.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Oh my that's too funny... did your friend ever make an appointment with him??

    HAPPY SITS DAY!!

  160. Happy SITS day.

  161. Happy SITS day! Interesting story about the massage. A massage sounds good right about now. Hmmm...

  162. Happy SITS day!! Im feeling a little bit smug that I already read your blog, and am not just discovering it!!!

  163. I do not know how you did not laugh. If something that awkward happened to me I would have busted.

    Congrats on being featured!

  164. Wiggle it - just a little bit. Love it! Maybe a pedi next time?

    ReplyDelete
  165. I have never had a professional massage. I have always wanted one. Now, after hearing about "the wiggle", I'm not so sure :)

  166. Happy SITS Day! I love your story about your massage. I have only had one once and it was quite awkward for me.

  167. A group of our friends is going skiing in March over Spring Break...and since I don't ski, I was looking forward to lesiure time in the condo; however this post has totally convinced me to find a spa out there! If he needs to jiggle my big, fat thigh...then he can jiggle away!
    ;o)

btw, i never could find out how to link my email to my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  168. I've never gone for a massage. It's stories like that that prevent me from going. I'm all for manis and a pedis, though.

    Happy SITS day!

  169. Oh my gosh! This cracked me up!!! Happy SITS Day to you!!

  170. congratulations on being featured! :) i can't wait to go read your posts and explore the site :) i'm trying not to laugh obnoxiously loud here at work reading of the wiggle tale. i can just picture it....thank goodness for fat tire and snow! :)

    ReplyDelete
  171. Happy SITS Day! I can totally picture the wiggle. Maybe a mud wrap net time?

  172. Happy SITS day!! :) I hope you enjoy it I can't wait to read more of your posts:)

  173. Love it! Reminds me of the Seinfield epsiode where George experiences the 'movement' can't say his 'movement' would be any prettier than my arse and thigh movement!!!
    Happy SITS day Ü

    ReplyDelete
  174. Haha, awesome. Jiggling a woman's thigh is NOT the way to promote relaxation.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Happy SITS Day! I don't like talking during a massage, either. I'm there to relax!

    ReplyDelete
  176. I've only had one massage by a male, but he was gay. So he probably did not care too much about the wiggling and jiggling :-) Great story!
    Happy SITS Day!

    ReplyDelete
  177. Hahaha! So did your friend book a massage with him?

I've never had a massage at a spa before, and I have absolutely no desire to do so. This story just confirms that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  178. Super Fun blog! Congrats on your sits day. That's awesome. Pretty hilarious story, btw. I know how you feel.

  182. Wow. Being one of SITS featured bloggers is a big deal. Congratulations Jenny Mac!

I love massages and only have one 'horror' story. I was working on a movie in Utah and with my per diem cash I treated myself to a massage. The female masseuse [and I don't care what gender the person is as long as they are talented with their hands and mostly requested.] refused to touch my skin she treated me through the sheet. I thought that was strange and my mind began to reel with reasons why she didn't want to touch me. I stopped it before the time was up because I couldn't take it any more. I was paying good money for her fear, prejudice, or whatever. Horrible, truly.

  183. Man, could I go for a massage right now - it's been for ever! Happy SITS day!
