It is cold out. You deserve a treat for enduring all this weather, right? And maybe your a little bit hungry for trouble. I have some sitting on this plate, just for you. My excuse is that they just look so pretty, and once I make them, they are too good to resist. Chocolate makes everyone happier...so dig in. Another great idea from Martha. Couldn't be easier and ready in minutes. From my kitchen to yours, enjoy every bite.
Grilled Chocolate Sandwiches (serves four...or two..or maybe just you.)
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 4 large slices challah or Italian Bread, (cut 3/4 inch thick)
- 4 ounces thin semisweet chocolate bar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Confectioners' sugar, for dusting
- In a large, shallow dish, whisk together eggs and milk; set aside.
- Form two sandwiches with the bread and chocolate (break chocolate as necessary to cover bread without extending over edges); dip both sides of sandwiches in egg mixture to coat.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat; transfer sandwiches to skillet. Cook, pressing occasionally with a spatula, until golden, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Cut in half, and dust with confectioners'; sugar before serving.

Definitely breakfast food because of the egga; anytime food because of the chocolate! Perfect!
Oh Lord! What a yummy treat!

Just this morning I decided, "Yea, I should get back on some sort of diet"

yum yum.. a bit of french toast sandwich with chocolate...sounds great
Now THAT sounds much better than the "chocolate sandwiches" my children's lovely uncle made for them over the weekend ... Hershey's syrup on white bread. ICK.
hey chocolate sandwich, come to mama.
that looks fantastic. zero calories too, right? :)
I looooooooooove nutella on challah, so this sounds amazing.

Oh my gosh, chocolate bread?! I would have never thought to put the two together. Looks yummy!!
I call that chocolate stuffed French toast. YUM!
Oh yummy! I think I found my new breakfast!!
OK, but what's for dessert?
One of my favorite treats from the bakery here is a chocolate croissant. If I'm really craving one though, I'll make a chocolate sandwich with a baguette and a dark chocolate bar. Slice the baguette, toast in the oven until warm, place chocolate bar inside and toast another few minutes to melt chocolate. Heaven.
Oh, man, I need some of these right now.
Oh hell.. this isn't good for my ass midget
snap! there goes that new years resolution. smiles.
Oh dear god, don't do this to me....it's way too tempting!

You are wicked. Showing off such a delightful treat which is way too easy to make.
This also reminds me of a dish made at Bennigans, I forgot what it is called, but it has ham, cheese and french toast sprinkled with confectioner's sugar and dipped into jelly. (Yum!)
Oh WOW this sounds sooo good! I wonder if I could make a gluten-free version for a person that has problems with wheat such as myself. :(
WHY DO YOU DO THESE THINGS TO ME?!?!?!? 6 (okay, 7-10) lbs away from my ultimate goal weight EVER and you have to post about GRILLED CHOCOLATE SANDWICHES?!?!?!? Sigh...
